Nine Schools of Art: The Bugs!

NINE Schools of Art seeks to build a practice of workshop-based art education and to create an open space for Art, Theory and Praxis. 

Abha Sheth, is an Art Historian presently based in New Delhi. Her area of research has been varied; ranging from Ancient and Medieval Indian Sculpture and Architecture (which also happens to be her area of specialization) to Popular Art Forms and Contemporary Visual Art practices. She has a vast teaching experience at academic institutions as well as at several other non-academic teaching platforms and has also co-edited the two-volume book titled "Art of Ancient India: Contextualizing Social Relations" and "Art of Medieval India:  Contextualizing Social Relations". Her other skills include archiving, editing art magazines and books, coordinating Art History seminars, conferences & workshops, conducting study tours, and guiding students in their dissertation projects at university level.


Rahul Bhattacharya is an independent Art Historian based in New Delhi. He has been the managing editor of Art&Deal Magazine and mattersofart.net. He is the founder organizer of the Kolkata international Performance Art Festival. His practice transverses the zones of performance, video art, painting and text. He has taught extensively in institutions like NIFT, GNLU and various art institutions across the country. The interest in art teaching has lead him to conduct and organize various art workshops over the years.


Samudra Kajal Saikia is a practitioner of interdisciplinary art practices. He taught aesthetics in College of Art, Delhi, and also worked as an Image Researcher in National Institute of Design, NID. He was part of the consultant team in the formation period of the Performance Studies Department under School of Culture and Creative expressions, AUD, and designed the infrastructure for the same. His artistic engagement associates with theatre and performances, public art projects, book illustration, video and animation. He is a practitioner of a distinctive theatre practice that is coined as the Disposable Theatre. Currently he is working on a research and documentation project on contemporary performance art in India, entitled as "Understanding Performance as Art and Beyond: Multiple Gaze", and also making a film on the same.







Moumita Ghosh is a contemporary artist with a long term engagement with craft, innovative artifacts and educating children. She has expertise in developing personalized and innovative modules in child education ushering personality development and creative expressions. The creativity classes at Nine Schools of Art are designed and conducted by Moumita on regular basis.
